DOCTOR GLEN WHITTAKER
PhD, Bachelor of Podiatry (Hons)
Doctor Glen Whittaker is an experienced podiatrist (with an endorsement to prescribe scheduled medicines) and a Senior Lecturer at La Trobe University. He completed a PhD in podiatry that compared orthotics and corticosteroid injection for plantar fasciitis. Doctor Whittaker is endorsed to prescribe scheduled medicines such as antibiotics, anti-inflammatories and administer steroid injections.
In his Senior Lecturer role, Glen teaches a variety of podiatry subjects including musculoskeletal foot and ankle pathology, clinical biomechanics, introductory clinical skills, and podiatric pharmacology. This role has allowed Doctor Whittaker to develop well-rounded skills in a variety of areas, particularly the diagnosis and management of sports injuries of the foot and ankle. He regularly delivers presentations at national and international conferences to podiatrists and other health professionals.
Clinically, Glen enjoys all aspects of work as a podiatrist, including sporting and musculoskeletal injuries, biomechanical assessments, orthotics, ingrown toenail management, rheumatological conditions effecting the foot, paediatrics and managing podiatry conditions of the skin and nails. Glen has a specific interest in the management of plantar fasciitis and heel pain, and offers cortisone injection and other injection techniques as part of an overall treatment plan. Glen is a member of the Australian Podiatry Association and a Non-medical Member of the Australian Rheumatology Association.

Sophie Fitt
Bachelor of Podiatry
Since graduating from La Trobe University with a Bachelor of Podiatry, Sophie has developed her experience as a podiatrist in a variety of settings; multidisciplinary family practices and a private podiatry clinic focusing on elite athletes. Additionally, Sophie has been afforded the opportunity to work alongside a Doctor of foot and ankle surgery in Boulder, Colorado, where she gained invaluable experience conservatively managing patients to prevent surgery.
Sophie is passionate about long distance running and has been immersed in the sport of athletics since the age of 15. She’s run 2:42:45 for the marathon distance and 1:17:47 for the half marathon. Sophie has competed domestically for Victoria in national level races and has had the opportunity to compete in the US, Spain & Japan in various sub elite marathon fields.
Over the last 15 years Sophie has been mentored by leading running coaches in Australia and the U.S., gaining an extensive knowledge of running technique, biomechanics & world class training philosophies. As a result, Sophie is well placed to provide high level podiatry advice regarding running technique, managing running related lower limb pathology & training for distance running. She loves meeting and supporting runners of all abilities and understands the joy and frustration the sport can bring!
Sophie motivates and guides people to live a healthy and active life, and manages foot injuries that may prevent this. Sophie is capable and confident in all areas of podiatry, including musculoskeletal complaints of the lower limb and foot, orthotic therapy, biomechanical assessments, paediatric podiatry, assessment and management of diabetes related foot pathology, chronic condition management and treatment podiatry conditions of the nail and skin.
She explored and further developed her interest in podiatric foot and ankle surgery by gaining her Basic Surgical Skills Education and Training through the ACPS (Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons) qualifying her to assist in foot and ankle surgery.
Sophie is a member of the Australasian Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine (AAPSM) and Sports Medicine Australia (SMA).
Outside the clinic, Sophie is either running around the streets and trails of Melbourne’s inner north, coaching recreational runners or chasing after her two very small children, Mabel & Lenny!

DOCTOR Andrew Buldt
PhD, Bachelor of Podiatry (Hons)
Doctor Andrew Buldt is an experienced podiatrist and also works as a Senior Lecturer in the Discipline of Podiatry at La Trobe University. He has over 15 years of experience working as a podiatrist, having worked in both private podiatry clinics and the public health care sector in Australia, Ireland and the UK. Doctor Buldt enjoys treating a range of conditions including arthritis, plantar fasciitis, Morton’s neuroma, and other foot conditions that cause pain.
As a Senior Lecturer, Doctor Buldt coordinates clinical subjects for podiatry students as well as teaching biomechanics and evidence based medicine for first year students.
Doctor Buldt conducts research on treatments for osteoarthritis in the foot and biomechanics of the foot and lower limb. Andrew has published research on mechanical interventions for lower limb and foot conditions and is also Australian Deputy Editor of the Journal of Foot and Ankle Research.
Liam Russell
Bachelor of Health Science, Master of Podiatric Practice
Liam has a strong background in exercise and sport, having worked as a personal trainer before becoming a podiatrist. Since graduating from his podiatry degree at La Trobe University, Liam has worked in private practice developing his expertise in sports and exercise by focusing on rehabilitation of sports injuries affecting the lower limb and foot. He is also currently undertaking his endorsement to prescribe scheduled medicines.
Despite Liam’s expertise in sports and exercise rehabilitation, he enjoys treating children and adults with skin and nail complaints and ingrown toenails, performing gait and biomechanical analysis, and providing running footwear advice. He is also proficient in a range of specialised treatment modalities including custom foot orthotics and shockwave therapy. Liam focuses on patient-centred care and he takes pride in listening to the individual patient and uses that information to create a specific management plan.
When not in the clinic, you'll find Liam running, at the gym, or playing cricket.
Ameer Nor Azhar
Bachelor of Health Science, Master of Podiatric Practice
Ameer is an enthusiastic podiatrist who is currently a PhD student at La Trobe University. Ameer also works as a casual academic, teaching a variety of classes to podiatry students.
After graduating from La Trobe University, he has gained valuable experience working within private practice in the West of Melbourne. Ameer enjoys all aspects of podiatry with special interests in lower limb biomechanics and musculoskeletal injuries. He is passionate about getting his patients moving and assisting them in achieving their goals. Ameer has worked in the footwear industry and has extensive knowledge on athletic footwear, so please feel free to chat shoes with him all day long!
In his downtime you may see Ameer cycling through the main trails of Melbourne and regional Victoria. If he isn’t on his bike, Ameer enjoys spending his time with great food and company.
